About

My earliest memory is learning John 3:16 from my mom, shortly before my brother led me to Christ on a Saturday night while playing board games.

Despite an early introduction to Christianity, I wasted years coasting on the second-hand information I learned about God and His Word from others. When I finally read through the whole Bible for the first time, it changed everything for me!

Because that was such a transformative experience for me, I spend my days doing things that help people read, understand, and love the Bible.

In 2009, I started D-Group (Discipleship Group) with a handful of college students, and it has grown into 300+ groups around the world. We meet weekly—online and in homes and churches—to dig deeper into books or topics from Scripture.

I also created and host a daily podcast called The Bible Recap, which aims to keep people connected to reading the Bible when they're tempted to quit for lack of understanding. I also have a daily radio spot called The God Shot.

I love to speak to audiences about God and His Word, and I write books with an aim to point others toward Biblical literacy.

A few times each year, I lead teaching trips to Israel where we study the Bible on site.

I love adventure, I dabble in flying trapeze, and I think every meal tastes better when eaten outside. I live in a concrete box in the skies of Dallas, TX, where I have no spouse, pets, or children—or anything else that might die if I forget to feed it.

Everything I've learned about God since I started reading through the Bible each year has motivated me to encourage others to pursue a relational knowledge of God—because:

He’s where the JOY is!
